POSITION: Project Intern

SUPERVISOR: SVP of Programs and Operation


This internship will provide an intern with an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of operating projects within HBCU 20x20.

You will work on projects including, but not limited to our mock interview program, professional development workshops, and our digital master classes.

This internship will give you hands-on experience with project management tools, business analysis, quality assurance and change management. The opportunity will also allow you to sharpen your communication and problem-solving skills in a business environment.


We expect you to be motivated and proactive. You will work collaboratively with HBCU 20x20 team members, actively participate in weekly discussions, decisions and all project activity. You will work as part of a team and as an individual. You will be engaged and should take pride in your work.


We are looking for an intern who:

  • Use strong interpersonal skills to actively listen and communicate in ways that foster trust and show flexibility.
  • Easily adapts to varied roles on teams from follower to leader.
  • Changes approach or method to best fit the situation.
  • Are able to complete projects with limited supervision (we don’t micromanage!)
  • Have the ability to take ownership and ask for help when needed.
  • Have a genuine interest in project management or learning about it.


General Responsibilities:

  • Support HBCU 20x20 in managing schedules and milestones
  • Ensure that weekly project statuses are received from team members.
  • Document resourcing needs, availability and commitments.
  • Identify and manage scope, constraints, risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and deadlines.
  • Assist with documentation and other project deliverables.

General Qualifications

  • Good Microsoft Office or equivalent skills
  • Familiarity with tools like Trello, Basecamp, or willingness to learn
  • Solid written and oral communication skills
  • Available to work remotely for 10-15 hours per week
  • Must own or have access to an operating computer


  • Sophomore, junior, senior, or current graduate student.
  • Must be registered at an HBCU (Historically Black College and University) and in good academic standing during the semester of their appointment.
  • All majors are welcomed


$20.00 per hour (paid bi-weekly) with monthly internet reimbursement.
